Operation Christmas Child

It’s time for Operation Christmas Child (A Project of Samaritan’s Purse) and St. Ben’s would like to participate in this project as part of our 2020 Holiday Outreach.

For the past 25 years, Operation Christmas Child has been collecting shoeboxes filled with gifts and delivering them to children in need around the world.  Each box is an opportunity for a boy or a girl to experience the love of God in a tangible way and hear the gospel.

As with all things in 2020, the collection looks a bit different.  Samaritan’s Purse has added the online option “Build-a-Box.” With just a few clicks, you can pack an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift online. Simply select toys and other fun items you’d like to include from the collection, and personalize your gift with your own letter and photo (optional). Samaritan’s Purse will pack the gift for you and send it on its way for a suggested donation of just $25.

  1. Go to www.samaritanspurse.com/buildabox

  2. Click on Build a Shoe Box Online – Girl or Boy – Age Group

    1. Start Building – You pick the items you want in the box

    2. Build it for Me – Samaritan’s Purse makes the choices

  3. If you’re building the box, you’ll get the following options

    1. Essentials Kit – Includes personal care items and school supplies – age dependent

    2. WOW Items – Choose 1

    3. Small Toys – Choose 3

    4. Accessories – Choose 2

  4. You’ll have the option of entering a message and/or attaching a photo

  5. Check out – You’re given several payment options

We’d like to kick-off this project on Sunday, October 18.  Collection week is November 16-23, 2020.

For those of you who prefer to shop and fill the traditional box, the shoeboxes and how-to information will be available in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, October 18.  Please return the shoeboxes to this same table by Sunday, November 15.
